AI for good - some examples of our work in the not for profit sector…

Leveraging AI for Social Good: Success Stories from Logicdialog

At Logicdialog, we are passionate about using AI to drive positive social impact. Over the past few years, we’ve had the privilege of working with numerous non-profit organisations to help them achieve their missions more efficiently and effectively. From boosting engagement to enhancing service delivery, AI has played a transformative role in improving outcomes for these organisations and their beneficiaries.

In this post, we’ll share some of our most exciting success stories and highlight how AI could help your organisation too.

Sport Wales: Enhancing Participation in Physical Activities

Sport Wales, the national organisation responsible for promoting sport and physical activity in Wales, has a clear mission: to make Wales a more active, healthier nation. However, reaching underrepresented and low-confidence individuals in sport has always been a challenge. That’s where our AI assistant came in.

We developed an AI solution that guided users—especially those who may have felt isolated or unsure about trying new activities—through a personalised and engaging conversation. Questions like, “Do you prefer team or individual activities?”, “Indoor or outdoor?”, and “Nice and calm, or hot and sweaty?” were carefully crafted to match people with sports they might not have previously considered.

Based on their responses, the AI assistant provided tailored suggestions for local activities, such as park runs, yoga classes, or leisure centre events. This personalised approach not only empowered users to find new ways to stay active but also built confidence and expanded their social circles. By focusing on individuals’ needs and preferences, we created a solution that fostered physical health and community engagement.

Amnesty International: Driving Human Rights Awareness

Amnesty International, the world’s largest grassroots human rights organisation, works to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth, and dignity are denied. With over ten million supporters globally, they needed a way to amplify campaign awareness and increase engagement with their cause.

Our solution was an AI assistant embedded in Facebook Messenger, which played a pivotal role in their ‘Free the Human’ campaign. The assistant shared up-to-date campaign news, offered ways to get involved, and increased the overall visibility of Amnesty’s critical human rights initiatives.

By streamlining communication and making it easier for people to engage, we helped boost online donations by 6%, significantly raising support for Amnesty’s mission.

“So incredibly useful.”

Prostate Cymru: Raising Awareness and Encouraging Early Detection

Prostate Cymru is a Welsh charity dedicated to raising awareness, fighting prostate cancer, and providing support to affected individuals. Every year, prostate cancer claims around 11,000 lives in the UK, with up to 32,000 new cases diagnosed.

Our AI assistant was designed to educate at-risk men, their families, and friends about prostate cancer symptoms and available support options. By asking a series of questions about lifestyle and health changes, the AI identified next steps, from self-care tips to seeking medical advice.

In collaboration with medical professionals, we ensured that the conversational flows were accurate and empathetic, guiding users toward critical resources. This AI solution not only helped raise awareness but also promoted early detection and streamlined access to care.

Welsh Water: Engaging the Community in Sustainability Efforts

Welsh Water, a not-for-profit utility company serving 3 million customers, wanted to gather public input on crucial topics like climate change and infrastructure improvements. To make this engagement process as seamless and inclusive as possible, we developed the world’s first Welsh bilingual chatbot.

Available on Facebook Messenger and a dedicated website, the chatbot asked users about their opinions on water usage and climate-related challenges. Through this AI-powered consultation tool, Welsh Water was able to collect meaningful feedback, particularly from younger demographics, while meeting regulatory requirements and ensuring community involvement.

We’ve created an industry-first Facebook Messenger chatbot consultation to bring our work to life in a fun, quick and engaging way.
— Morgan Lloyd, Head of Marketing, Welsh Water

“Not many people will get excited about taking part in a consultation on water. And we’re asking some pretty big questions on complex issues, so we knew we had to take a different approach. We’ve created an industry-first Facebook Messenger chatbot consultation to bring our work to life in a fun, quick and engaging way.”
— Morgan Lloyd, Head of Marketing, Welsh Water

Social Housing Organisations: Improving Resident Services

We’ve also collaborated with multiple housing associations to improve resident communications while ensuring cost-effectiveness. Rising operational costs often create challenges for these associations, but our AI solutions have helped reduce the pressure.

Our automated systems handle resident interactions across various channels and languages, streamlining processes like repair requests, rent balance checks, and communication with housing providers. By automating these essential services, housing associations have been able to reduce call and email volumes by up to 50%, saving tens of thousands of pounds annually. This efficiency allows housing associations to deliver high-quality services, even as demand grows.

Local Authorities: Supporting Critical Community Services

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we partnered with several local authorities to manage the surge in public inquiries. By deploying our AI assistants, local governments were able to quickly and automatically respond to tens of thousands of pandemic-related questions.

More recently, we played a crucial role in the rehousing efforts for Ukrainian refugees, automating much of the administrative work needed to support their relocation. These projects highlight the importance of rapidly deployable AI solutions in times of crisis, ensuring that essential services remain accessible when they are needed most.

AI for Good: Making a Tangible Impact

At Logicdialog, we believe in the power of AI for good. These success stories illustrate just a few of the ways AI can be harnessed to improve lives, promote community engagement, and support social causes. Whether you’re looking to boost engagement, raise awareness, or improve service delivery, AI has the potential to make a real difference.

If you’d like to discuss how AI could benefit your organisation—or if you simply want to chat about the ‘art of the possible’—our team would love to hear from you. Let’s explore how we can work together to drive positive change.

“We’re hoping our new chatbot will inspire, empower and encourage more women and girls in Wales to get active and give sport a go, regardless of their current fitness level. ”
— Paul Batcup, PR Manager, Sport Wales
